Coconut Oil for Skin

Coconut oil can immediately improve the look and feel of dry and wrinkled skin.

Coconut oil has so many uses and benefits for inside and outside the body. One of the more common uses is coconut oil for skin. In particular, coconut oil as a moisturizer.

Regular moisturizing products work by adding water into the skin. Dry and wrinkled skin absorbs the moisture which expands the skins tissues and flattens wrinkles and leaves the face feeling smoother and younger looking.

The only problem with these regular moisturizers is the effect on the skin is rather short lived. The moisture soon evaporates or absorbs into the blood stream, leaving the skin dry and wrinkled again.

Most moisturizers try to combat this rapid loss of moisture by adding oils into the product. Unfortunately the oil that is added is nearly always highly refined vegetable oil which contains virtually zero nutrients and antioxidants the skin needs.

Antioxidants help to fight against free radicals, the process in which the skin loses its elasticity, strength and suppleness.

We generally consume antioxidants through a healthy balanced diet, but using then directly onto the skin can also have a beneficial effect. Virgin Coconut Oil is particularly useful in fighting free-radicals, as it hasn’t been stripped of any of its natural components through the refining process.

Virgin coconut oil can help prevent the skin from developing liver spots and other blemishes caused by the aging process and over exposure to direct sunlight or UV light. The oil helps to keep the tissues in the skin strong and supple so that the skin doesn’t sag or wrinkle. It has even been documented to improve the skins condition by restoring previous damaged or diseased skin.

Coconut oil doesn’t evaporate or become absorbed into the blood stream nearly as quick as refined vegetable oil. It is also full of antioxidants and vital nutrients that protects and repairs damaged skin as well as giving it a youthful appearance.

Other Uses of Coconut Oil for Skin

For people with skin complaints or disease, coconut oil can work as an acne and eczema treatment. Simply apply a sufficient amount of coconut oil on the affected area every day after a wash.

Moisture is very important when a person is treating eczema. Coconut oil, when applied on the face, also melts the dirt that gets clogged in the pores. For more severe cases, apply coconut oil more than once a day.

You can add coconut oil to a bath to give an all over moisturizing effect. It will also act to sooth and relax.

Coconut oil soap is a great substitute for regular soap as it won’t dry your hands out and will keep them supple and smooth.

Take a few tablespoons of virgin coconut oil every morning to give a boost to your metabolism. A healthy digestive system improves the hormonal production and cell function which gives you radiant skin.

There are so many more coconut oil benefits that are incredibly beneficial to our general health and wellbeing. If you haven’t done so already, I suggest you at least try some of the recommendations given on this site.

I know it might sound bit strange, but once I had to face with dry skin problem and the only home treatment which helped me to get better results is applying three to four drops of coconut oil spread over your face before going to sleep. Next day you will not only feel fresh, you will start to feel your skin is more healthy than before.

one another good thing is you can use it as crack removing oil. Just apply coconut oil to your legs affected with cracks and then place it in warm water for fifteen to twenty mins, then wash your legs. you can feel the difference at once .

I agree that coconut oil is much more beneficial than many other products on the market as there is no inclusion of vegetable oil which tends to clog up the skin. As you say it is also a great addition to a nice relaxing bath.
